[Monroe-schools] 5/6 grade band in Monroe; is it "safe"?

As some of you may have heard at last night's 5th grade band
concert in Monroe, the school board will review the future of
the 5/6 grade band program next Tuesday night.  The music
department has met and reportedly has worked out some details
which would allow the 5/6 grade band program to continue without
costing the district any more money.  These recommendations will
be presented to the Finance Committee of the school board prior
to their meeting next Tuesday night.  Then, that recommendation
will be presented at the school board meeting immediately
following the Finance Committee meeting.  Although the program
appears at this time to be "safe", I think we should still have
a group of interested parents at that meeting to show our
support.  If you are able to attend, it is currently scheduled
for 7pm at the Administration Building.  Please "spread the
